In class, we have been learning about realism and fantasy. Think about the passage “Beach Day”. Using your imagination, how would the story change if it were fantasy? Give at least examples.

In class we have been learning about how facts in a non-fiction story. After reading the passage, ” Penguins!” give facts on:

1. What is a penguins classification?

2. What predators go after penguins?

In class this week we have been learning about character traits. Think about the story, “The Little Red Hen” that we read in class. If the Little Red Hen wasn’t helpful, how would the story have changed? Please write in complete sentences.

In class we have been discussing character traits. Traits describe how a character thinks, what they say, and their actions.  After reading, “The Crow and The Pitcher” by, Aesop- What are some of the crows character traits? Please write in complete sentences.

Welcome back to another amazing school year at P.S 101!! Congratulations to all of you  for succeeding in 1st grade!! With dedication and working hard we know that you all will be just as successful here in second. Second grade will be filled with engaging activities and the use of technology to enhance our learning. I am delighted to see the  sweet faces that I had once taught for a period in time in kindergarten two years ago and eager to get to know the new faces in our classroom. We look forward to another successful school year filled with learning and fun here at 101!!
